SpaceX rocket successfully returns to Earth after putting satellites into orbit
In a historic achievement of space technology, Elon Musk’s SpaceX landed its orbital rocket Falcon 9. It was the first time a rocket went to space and got back in a vertical landing, an unprecedented feat in space history motivated by the goal of reducing costs and make orbital rockets reusable.
SpaceX launched Falcon 9 to carry 11 satellites into orbit, and then managed to return the booster back to Earth successfully. The rocket lifted off yesterday (December 21) from Cape Canaveral, Florida. A few minutes after the launch, the ۱۵-story first stage of rocket – which gives it the power to takeoff – broke off and began its return to Earth, while the second stage maintained the propulsion of the satellites into space.
