Largest U.S. Destroyer warship, the Zumwalt gets its sea legs
Charting in at a MASSIVE ۶۰۰ ft and ۱۵,۰۰۰ tons, the USS Zumwalt headed out to sea for the first time to undergo sea trials in wide open ocean. Released from Fort Popham in South Maine, the behemoth of a ship brought a few tears to a few eyes, as builders, sailors, and admirers saw her off.
The Zumwalt will cost at least $ 4.4 billion and is the first of three ships in the class. The shipbuilder, Bath Iron Works took pride in all of its capabilities. Supplied with an inverse bow on the front cutting through waves like a knife while radars and antennas are tactfully concealed in a composite deckhouse.
