Listen to music played my waves with Zadar’s Sea Organ
In a mesmerizing collaboration between humanity and the natural elements, this 70-meter-long “Sea Organ” in Zadar, Croatia creates very soothing music played by the Adriatic Sea.
The sea organ, or “Morske Orgulje”, as the locals call it, was designed by the Croatian architect Nikola Basic and opened to the public in 2005. The instrument consists of a series of steps equipped with cavities and a system of pipes inside the stairs. As soon as the waves crash against the stairs, the air and water are pushed through the holes in the bottom steps and into the tubes inside, transforming the space into a large musical instrument, played by wind and sea, creating musical notes and random sounds.
